``Preach the Word"
1 1I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to 2judge the living and the dead, and by His 3appearing and His kingdom:
2
preach 4the word; be ready in season and out of season; 5reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great 6patience and instruction.
3
For 7the time will come when they will not endure 8sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires,
4
and 9will turn away their ears from the truth and 10will turn aside to myths.
5
But you, 11be sober in all things, 12endure hardship, do the work of an 13evangelist, fulfill your 14ministry.
6
For I am already being 15poured out as a drink offering, and the time of 16my departure has come.
7
17I have fought the good fight, I have finished 18the course, I have kept 19the faith;
8
in the future there 20is laid up for me 21the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on 22that day; and not only to me, but also to 23all who have loved His 24appearing.
Personal Concerns
9 25Make every effort to come to me soon;
10
for 26Demas, having loved 27this present world, has deserted me and gone to 28Thessalonica; Crescens has gone to 29Galatia, 30Titus to Dalmatia.
11
31Only 32Luke is with me. Pick up 33Mark and bring him with you, 34for he is useful to me for service.
12
But 35Tychicus I have sent to 36Ephesus.
13
When you come bring the cloak which I left at 37Troas with Carpus, and the books, especially the parchments.
14
38Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm; 39the Lord will repay him according to his deeds.
15
Be on guard against him yourself, for he vigorously opposed our teaching.
16
At my first defense no one supported me, but all deserted me; 40may it not be counted against them.
17
But the Lord stood with me and 41strengthened me, so that through me 42the proclamation might be 43fully accomplished, and that all 44the Gentiles might hear; and I was 45rescued out of 46the lion's mouth.
18
The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed, and will 47bring me safely to His 48heavenly kingdom; 49to Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
19
Greet Prisca and 50Aquila, and 51the household of Onesiphorus.
20
52Erastus remained at 53Corinth, but 54Trophimus I left sick at 55Miletus.
21
56Make every effort to come before 57winter. Eubulus greets you, also Pudens and Linus and Claudia and all the brethren.
22
58The Lord be with your spirit. 59Grace be with you.
